S. James Gates Appearance on C-SPAN

University of Maryland professor S. James (Jim) Gates recently appeared on the C-SPAN cable network's show "Q & A," to discuss many topics including his life and career, and contemporary physics. The archived video is available here. He gave some good general-audience explanations of particle-physics concepts. For example, if a person held his or her hands one yard apart, then moved them to one-tenth the distance apart (3.6 inches), then kept moving in to one-tenth the distance of the prior stage a total of 10 times, the resulting distance would approximate the size of the atom.
